Hand cast, polished then plated with precious 22k gold, these decorative inlays are encompassed throughout by platinum plated fittings. The fountain pen nib is a platinum plated medium point writing nib with 22k gold two tone nib with a hand polished Iridium point.

This beautiful Emperor fountain pen was handturned in my Central New York studio using Cambodian burl wood in the gold color variation. A burl is caused by an injury to the tree where the growth of the tree changes causing a random artistic swirling grain pattern as opposed to a normal linear grain pattern. This results in a pen with lots of character. Cambodian burl's color varies from a rich red to red orange and has very intense "eyes" in the burl. Cambodian burl wood is regarded as one of the most spectacular burls.
